Like... it started off as a pretty standard gay film but it started to shift to something a lot more.
I had intense lingering thoughts/emotions felt hours after viewing. I read online that there were a great deal of the things the movie left out.
For pace purposes and for budget wise. With that said I went to Target soon after and picked up the paperback book. I spent about 3 hours devouring the book and feeling even more emotions...
Especially know that
Back to the movie which was shot beautifully and had a vintage feel. Director Luca Guadagnino couldn't have picked a better location.
Im BUYING this movie on DVD when it becomes available.
I'm glad you liked it. It was very emotional and left the same impact on me as well. Funny thing is, I'm kind of in a similar situation with a guy and this movie kind of put it into perspective for me. I'm bowing it out. It's a cute lil' romance and all, but I need to get married and surrogate some damn kids. I don't wanna get no damn phone call about you marrying some hoe after you done got tied of laying up with me.
And you're right, Moonlight is like the precursor, but we know Hollywood would never be as bold to make a movie like that with an all black cast because of homophobia in the black community. Black people would liken it to a gay agenda instead of just a love story.
