I had always heard references of skid row, even before living in LA. I did go downtown much, and definitely not to that area. But one night my cousin was in San Diego visiting his brother and decided to take a Greyhound up to visit me. I had to pick him up from the Greyhound terminal downtown and my fucking jaw dropped.  I have never seen anything like it in my life. It is really  a fucking community of people just leaving in the streets. In the south you dont really have that, but then again the rent is so much more affordable here.
