It not only means standing by whatever you believe but it's about accountability as well.
doesn't mean you're right or perfectly logical (thus, the "mess" part) but it means you don't back down.

ultimately it means have a damns backbone.
don't alter your beliefs or go on hush mode (if its something you feel the need to speak on) for the comfort of others.
