I mean...I think there's a way to demand what you're worth without comparing yourself to actors with resumes that span multiple decades, but I guess she had a point

:udontlookok:
I think she meant their whole trajectory.  From a prestigious school to now being a decorated actress whose done it all (Broadway, Film, and Television) and been successful awhile. Viola's career spans a couple of decades as well.  Cause I like Julian Moore and Sigourney weaver but I don't put then as high as Meryl. There's no reason viola shouldn't be making Julian Moore money. Monique's convo is completely lost on me.  Even I don't think she deserves it.  Viola is completely different

Yeah, I think the comparison makes sense when talking about career paths but Viola still has a way to go before she can perch alongside those other women. Just my opinion.

Quote?I have a career that's probably comparable to Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Sigourney Weaver.

U don't agree?

Meryl has more Oscar noms than any other actress and Sigourney was one of the first female heroines on film, so no  :dead:
She said comparable not exactly the same.  They are all very well respected Alist actresses and there's no reason viola should be making  10% of what they make.  If it was just Meryl I would understand because I think she's the best actress ever tbh but Sigourney weaver and Julian Moore? NAH! Sigourney should be making less than everyone imhfo and viola and Julian should be on par with each other
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

yummy

I didn't know you were apart of the convo that Vonc and I were having, but hi?

I think that's what her point was.

No matter what training/schooling she has, how hard she works, how many Tony's or Emmy's or Sally's she receives...she still won't able to perch at their table. It's impossible to do that when you aren't given the same opportunities.

It'd be like an endless game of catch up with a serious handicap. Running behind them with a broken leg.

She could have been more clear but I get it.

Vonc2002

And I think it makes alot of sense because she said she's like first on their call list and I see that.  I could see people calling her up and wanting to build movies around her like a Meryl Streep. Viola is kinda our go to actress. So if I'm first to be called then my pay needs to reflect that.

That Too! I've been trained. I've won Oscars, emmys, Tonys, and golden globes. I've proven myself a viable actress and STILL I'm not afforded those opportunities and my pay is a fckn 10th of what these hoes are getting.  I'm still thrown at the black Meryl Streep. How disreFCKNspectful :uhh:

I think that was actually part of her winning speech from what I remember. The only difference really is opportunity. Has nothing to do with her talent or where she could go or even how hard she works to get there. There are certain things that are simply out of her control. And those forces take nothing into consideration when it comes to her talent or potential as an actress.

🦚

The studio?s just don?t believe black women have the mainstream reach.

Halle and someone else I won?t mention since she?s not a full time actress are the only ones I recall getting the 10s of millions for a role or more.

TV is probably the biggest checks a black actress will see.

ya rock muh world.

Yeah. It ultimately comes down to the fact that this is still a White country.

It's really about these studios seeing a return on investment and catering to their target audience.

Majority rules. I mean it's really simplifying things to say that but it's real.

America is becoming more and more diversified and as that happens I think things will change and more honest and open conversations will be had.

But until then, it's a great idea for Viola to open up this production house she has in the works. Until then, let's appreciate Tyler Perry for giving Black actors an opportunity that they otherwise wouldn't have had. Until then, let's continue to support "EBT" and alike networks - tuning into the awards shows which actually take time to honor Black people whether or not they're playing a crackhead, criminal or prostitute.

Stewie

Is Halle still getting 10s of millions tho.... and who is this other woman

Bet is actually doing good with The Quad. Love the way the tackles the police brutality mess from another angle last episode.
