Beyonce's Stepfather Reveals On the Run 2 Tour With JAY-Z Will 'Confront the Hard Subjects'

Since announcing their On The Run Tour 2 in March, Beyonc? and JAY-Z have kept fairly quiet about what fans can expect of the shows -- which begin on June 6 in Cardiff, Wales. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Beyonce?s stepfather Richard Lawson shared what he knows so far.

The 71-year-old veteran actor was discussing his new drama series In Contempt, when he revealed that tour attendees could expect to see a different side of the power duo. "This is gonna be really a culmination of their growth and their ability to really confront the hard subjects and the hard issues." Lawson told PEOPLE.

Beyonc? famously addressed issues of infidelity and reconciliation with her 2016 opus Lemonade. In 2017, JAY-Z kept the conversation going with his confessional, apologetic album 4:44. These works put their relationship front and center, something that Lawson also commented on. "Well, look at what they?ve been through in the last couple of years in terms of the things that they?ve confronted and the way that they?ve put it into art," Lawson said in the interview.

Lawson also doted on Beyonc?'s caring nature. "She has more care and more concern and more love for humanity," he told PEOPLE. "I cannot tell you how proud I am of her and just how much I appreciate knowing such a large spirit. She?s an incredible human being," Lawson continued.

Although he hasn?t revealed much about the tour, JAY-Z did appear on Netflix?s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman and discussed how the couple has grown since attending therapy and repairing their union -- and credited Beyonc? for being understanding. "I have a beautiful wife who was understanding and who knew I?m not the worst of what I?ve done," he told Letterman.
