Nobody negated that she used the equity from one house to purchase another. That's literally what happened.
The issue being discussed was what that decision meant in the context of the situation. She only sold the house to get the extra funds bc she couldn't have purchased another home otherwise while paying for Simon's home. If she really had it LIKE THAT she wouldn't have had to downgrade her mother's accommodations.
