I always ask myself in situations like this, if it was a......Wale and Marsha A. collab would we be going up? Of course bey and jay are a brand and that adds to the whole package but.....yea.
Their talent isn?t in the same stratosphere, so, no, we wouldn?t be going up at all come on now. This post reeks of bias at this point
They aren?t just a Brand. Their gifts are not to be denied, period. Even if you don?t like the album itself, neither of those examples you used could EVER sdddd and i like Marsha

Its obvious I dont dislike them or else I wouldnt be "disappointed" in this album. And I would beg to differ re: Wale and Marsha and their levels of talent.
If anything I think your response reeks bias. I am just stating I am disappointed. You're stating I should like it because it is undeniably good.

I like Bey as a singer. Yea she sings a few tunes here but I enjoy her as a "1+1", "Hello", hell even "Countdown" type singer. Shes riding this new wave of delivery that I enjoyed for a moment but didnt want to seenl in her next project.
The production is quality but not dynamic. Its.....good.
So...to me...the album is ok. And so because in my opinion its "ok", I was just shocked to see all this praise in this thread (going back to my op) because we (as a forum) have been a lot more critical of albums that pushed the needle a little more than this one from the carters.
shes not that artist anymore... you can clearly see that. also this isn't an r&b album. its purposely labeled a hip hop/ rap album. so just from that alone I dont know why you were expecting what you were expecting..all hip hop albums have some Melodies and hooks in there but not a full balls to the wall singing track....and bey still delivers vocals as a brandy Stan we should be able to appreciate tone, placement, lows, layers, color, etc... we can comprehend that "sangin" doesn't mean she needs to be in the 5th octave all the time. if you dont like it thats fine I guess but some things are facts..... she aint that artist no more. as a Stan I had to accept that and just let her be. comparing her new stuff to the old is gonna make you not like everything... you may be missing out because of preconceived notions... I personally would love nothing more to get R&B/Popyonce back for a couple of tracks... is it gonna happen or stop me from enjoying everything she puts out.... probably not! bey has been known to be like Apple.... we ask for one thing and she literally just gives us something completely different while cackling.

My OPINION stands just like yours does. I dont stick to anything. I am open to a new direction from Bey. I just was hoping that this "rap" type delivery repping the money and private planes was over.
Its funny how we say we want Bran to give us full moon 2.0 and NSN 2.0 but when it comes to other artists going back to an original formula, its a "oh let it go shes not that girl anymore!".
Listen my opinion wont change. The album is ok. Its just not my flavor and not what I wanted from Bey this time around. I didnt say it was horrible. Hell, all I said was i am surprised with the response because of how critical this board is.
Its okay guys we dont have to agree. Me not caring for this project wont stop yall from going up. It is A-OK trust me lol
