That honestly wasn't shade.

They've both spoken about their weight, both have celebrity parents and both into music.
And Erica and Brandy are close so I'm sure they've hung out.

And I noticed how Erica was interrupting her as she was speaking...she was quick to interject and bring up all the beautiful dark skinned women in the world. Kelly Row! Naomi! Gabrielle!

She's not asking you if dark women are actually pretty, she's telling you her experience as a darker skinned young Black girl.

We were JUST talking about this yesterday with the men. Black people are so quick to rush and try to brush things under the rug or act as if they don't really exist.

But in Erica's defense, it can't be the easiest thing to hear those things coming out of your child's mouth. I'm sure her first instinct was to protect her. But she should find a way to acknowledge the fact that her daughter is definitely onto something and have REAL conversation with her. Because she's not stupid and I could see that she KNEW Erica was deflecting.
