Truth hurts but it fosters a spirit of change. Once again, it's dangerous to disregard it. It's like someone who can't sing refusing vocal lessons cuz they're sure everyone's lying and hating on them. They'll live blissfully in ignorance, perhaps....but they'll never really learn how to sing.

A lot of that stuff is true, but a lot of it isn?t. You have to look at who is creating the narrative and why it benefits them. Black people have their faults, but every statistic lowest this and highest that? Sure, Jan.

Well you have to remember that we descend from enslaved people. Our story is the most unique in American history. We had to free ourselves from the visible chains first ... fight through the Civil Rights/Jim Crow mess after slavery, was then pushed into separate but "equal" conditions afterwards, ghettos were formed because White people made it their business to move out any areas where one Black face was walking around...

We started from the bottom and now we're ..... here. 

So I'm not embarrassed about these stats because I know there's a reason why we face more challenges than any other minority. We're not like the Koreans or the Chinese who voluntarily came here through Ellis Island with a plan. We were thrown on fucking ships like cargo, treated like property and then released from the fields with not even a good luck charm to our names.

Speaking of names, we didn't even have those! They were assigned.

Hell, I'd say considering those conditions we're doing impressively well. But we have to remain HONEST with ourselves if we want to do BETTER.

I'd much rather face a harsh reality and let it motivate me than live in ignorance because it sounds better and it's not embarrassing to the race. Fuck embarrassment. These are in-house issues.
