Share your favorite song/moment from The Voice.

In L.A. Reid?s book, he mentioned that Whit knocked this song out in one take because she wanted to go shopping  :dead: This is still one of my faves from her.
Woo bitch bitch

My MESS

Miss Queen so much

I think it was the cigarette smoking
that directly targets the lungs and throat which is vital for singers

There was someone on the old Bey board that used to say Whitney suffered from Gospel Jaw and if you watch enough of her performances you can see it. It wasn't really drugs that REALLY destroyed her voice but improper technique. Though it did her WONDERS for her vocal performances and live performances it wasn't good in the long run.

I appreciate what she did vocally. Definitely pushed herself to the breaking point.

Eh, i definitely dont agree with this
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

She definitely overused her voice. This is a fact. Other things exacerbated it and sped it up. Same with what happened to Mariah.

edit: I dont get how both of their mothers were singing coaches and didnt tell them to stop.

On the bright side she still had SOMETHING to work with
up until that performance with Queen Burrell

QuoteAlso affectionately known as ?Gospel jaw? and ?jawbrato,? the shaking jaw is characterized by a visible trembling of the jaw, often in tandem with vibrato and especially at higher pitches. It is seen more often in those with long necks with highly visible surface musculature and females (likely due to the closer proximity of their larynges to their tongue roots, as well as the higher phonation frequencies as compared to males). The shaking jaw is a symptom of any number of imbalances, including (in no particular order):

? Poor overall body alignment, which can stress the muscles of the entire voice system
? Misuse or incorrect positioning of the tongue (e.g., retracting it and depressing the larynx with it in order to produce a bigger, darker sound)
? Entanglement of the tongue, jaw, and larynx so that their functions become too interdependent
? False pedagogical assumptions (e.g., that the jaw should be maintained in one ideal posture for singing, rather than allowing the jaw?s shape and position to adhere to acoustical laws that permit vowel definition)
? Breath management imbalances, especially over-supporting (over-breathing), which may be triggered by great downward pressure exerted on the larynx by the tongue root. (Equally great breath pressure is then required to overcome this force so that the voice can vibrate at all.) Lack of adequate breath ?support? may also prompt the body to try to compensate by engaging other parts of the body (tongue, larynx, neck, face, and jaw). Clavicular breathing (high chest breathing) can induce neck tensions, which in turn may ?travel? to the muscles of the jaw and tongue.
? Tension in the jaw muscles (e.g., holding an isometric position for too long), causing muscle fatigue and shaking in an effort to release the tension. When the mandible is tense, the entire supporting structure of the larynx is prone to states of tension. (Tensions in the jaw are generally accompanied by tensions in the tongue and neck, or are induced by them.)
? Singing dramatic literature when it is unsuitable for the singer?s natural Fach.
? Subconscious attempts to induce, assist, or control vibrato.

The shaking of the jaw (beyond the barely perceptible oscillatory movements that are considered normal) is not a problem that can be locally addressed because it results from a lack of coordination between the three parts of the phonatory mechanism: the ?motor,? the ?vibrator,? and the ?resonator.? Hence, the totality of coordination of the voice system - from breath management (which includes postural concerns) to stabilization of laryngeal position to mobility of the resonator tract - must be systematically developed. New coordinations must be trained.

Did y'all hear this?

Whew, I still get a bit emotional listening to it.

I didnt know Cocaine nums the tongue. That explains why her speech changed. Which also effected her enunciation and pronunciation when speaking.

But the fact that she PULLED that last album outta herself is amazing. I used to play it DOWN
