Urban artists have always been able to thrive in a market completely dominated by minimally talented white artists.
 
Missy & Kim were able to exist and thrive doing hip hop records in a teenybopper world dominated by Britney Spears, Christina Aguiera, Nsync, Backstreet Boys etc etc.

Beyonc? put out a pure R&B album in 2011 and outsold every white pop girl that released. Nevermind the fact she's been outselling Britney and her pop records since her solo debut in 2003.

But in reality nicki doing pop songs really opened the doors for other female rappers to also include pop in there music.

Nicki sacrificed her art for a few bubble gum singles. She had an organic hit with super bass then went overboard trying to recreate that success with starships etc. In turn she turned off hip hop fans to the point the urban DJs were calling her out.

Drake stayed true to his sound. Tyga released rack city in 2012 same year she released starships and it was just as big in US and it was an organic hit and today he have "taste".

None of Nicki shit is sticking. Her label isn't going to see her as viable pretty soon. They spend too much money not to get their return.
