They wanted to undermine her in the renegotiations. 4 was the last album under the old contract and they thought they could get her on the old terms if her album underperformed. Especially with Mathew no longer at their neck.
Tbh the label didn?t respect her until self titled and she showed them she doesn?t need them and can easily do it without them.
