Katy Perry Says She's Ready to Take a Step Back: 'I'm Not Going to Go Straight Into Making Another Record'

Katy Perry has revealed plans to take a step back from music following the conclusion of Witness: The Tour.

?I?ve been on the road for like 10 years, so I?m just going to chill. I?m not going to go straight into making another record," Perry said in an Oct. 8 cover story interview with Footwear News. "I feel like I?ve done a lot. I feel like I?ve rung the bell of being a pop star very loudly, and I?m very grateful for that.?

After knowing she wanted to be a singer since she was nine years old, Perry devoted all of her time between then and now on honing her craft, but no longer feels like she's in a contest. "I love making music, I love writing," she said. "But I don?t feel like I?m a part of a game anymore. I just feel like I?m an artist. I don?t feel like I have to prove anything, which is a freeing feeling.?
