You're right. I literally just grabbed the article and posted it.

It was a mere cherry on top in that instance - the discussion we were having was regarding his reputation as a game changer or influencer.

Of COURSE someone could have challenged an article from VIBE if they wanted to. And I definitely wouldn't have said, "Umm excuse you, Vibe is the authority on album sales. They said it, so it's true."

The writer of that article could have been wrong. It's up to the reader to challenge it. And if someone challenged it, it would have been MY obligation to prove what I posted.

I could get with this if we were discussing instances where the writers are just typing any numbers they want, but we?re talking about people citing the direct source in their articles
What is this, just playing devil?s advocate? Like although the articles are not lying and the source they get their numbers from is not refuting anything, you have to see it from that source because there is the minimal chance it could still be wrong?

If I feel I am quoting an authority on a topic, I mention that. Like I mentioned the Center for Disease Control when Jayden and I had our discussions regarding STD's.

If you can find me mentioning a non-authority source as an authority on a specific topic, then your point is proven.

I honestly didn't even know his album was the top selling R&B album of all time (if it really is) - so I wasn't looking for proof of that.

I literally just went on Google looking for anything related to his sales and found that VIBE article. And threw it out there.

Along with a "Let's talk about numbers" statement to get the ball rolling into a sales conversation.

Now, if someone were to say, "Prove it Afro". Then my response certainly wouldn't have been "VIBE said so! Now what else is up? "
