I swore I wouldn't dig into my great grandfather's (grandmother's father) side of the family (avoiding ANY research regarding European ancestry for obvious reasons). But I'm glad I did. My ancestor, Clifton DeBerry, was a popular civil rights activist and politician. He has his own Wiki mess :plzstop: He was closely associated with Malcolm X.

DeBerry is my mother's maiden name, and I found this information on our family's history page.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifton_DeBerry

My mother's side of the family fucking slays.  :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

I'm so glad I stopped putting it off and finally dug in. My grandmother is going to be elated to hear this.

Herb.

My great grandfather's family is originally from France (with African mixed in).
It's info on our family page that suggests relation to the King and Queen of France.
(I'll have to dig into this more before I can comfortably accept that).

A lot of this makes sense......
My mother's side of the family is full of professionals.
We have lawyers, teachers, ..... there's a lot of SMARTS on this side of the family
Not to say my paternal side is "dumb" , but you get what i mean. my dad's side is just more simple. Which is something I love (I was just singing my great grandfather's praises last night).
