Yes I have when going to Australia so yeah at the end of the day they have to apply to come here like everyone from every other country.. they shouldn't get special treatment

They are trying to apply for asylum, which is allowed under U.S. law. What's supposed to happen is that they present themselves to border agents, state their intent to seek asylum. They're then detained, pending an asylum hearing. If they have a credible case, they're granted asylum. If they don't, they are deported.
