First things first congratulations to viola for securing another lead role. And of course it had to come from your own production company. It?s sad an Oscar has to create her own starring vehicles that in itself should let you guys know how tough this industry is for her.
For everybody going up for Meryl, take in account the obvious that she?s white. And when she did films like she devil/death becomes her it was right after she turned 40 and was rebranding herself. She was typecast before then. And it?s complicated/ Julie &julia came much much later after new found box office success from devil wears Prada. And truth be told Prada was promoted as Anne Hathaway film so she deserves because her young fans made that a hit.
Viola isn?t the general public view as gorgeous and neither is Meryl imo. With that said they make her very pretty on how to get away with murder. So I?m sure when her opportunity comes along she would not look the part but act the part too!(I guess none of you seen vee as the funny bestie in ?eat pray love? and ?nights in rodanthe?.)
Go out and support widows so she would be able to show us how good viola can be. Regardless, she will go down as a legend for birthing the most complex Black female television character on a drama series.
