Herb.

Which channel is most "appropriate" for someone to share their status or story is not up to us. They are the ones dealing with this. Maybe they feel more comfortable sharing and talking with people who know them, as opposed to a group of strangers. Not every infected person wants to join an HIV club of sorts (excuse my insensitive term, but this is what you are pushing them into). They tend to want to blend among "normal" people. And seeing that these people who they interact with on a daily basis are accepting of them, probably would mean a lot more to them than being accepted by those who are also infected.

Logging on to an HIV forum where no one knows or even remotely cares us different from a community you've conversed with for many months or even years on a daily basis. You become close to an extent and are familiar with eachother.

stupid to do over the internet...maybe in REAL life
Why?
The anonymity of the net makes it safer no?
If it gives them some sort of release, I don't see why not

this is atrl not a hiv forum

its gonna get messy
ok?
Maybe they wanted to share it with people they chat with everyday :uhh:
Is it a little too REAL for ya?

then when they get into a stan war bringing ahp ya personal mess ?
hhjjj look
I didn't say it was the perfect place to drop it
If they feel comfortable enough...hey!
Judging by the responses in that thread I doubt there will be any HIV reads

That's the same as asking a protestor if they've been shot by a cop before.

Herb.

We're gay black men. Chances are, many of us have friends who have shared their diagnoses with us, or even family going through this. We're among the most, if not the most, prone to the disease, by statistics. When I see this thread, it makes me think of when my friend revealed his status to me. Also, when I saw gray hairs growing on his head at 23 years old. It's real.
