I kinda wouldn't put it past Diane, tbh.  The pact part actually sounds true, and I hate that Aaliyah may have felt obligated to protect him or felt emotionally tied to him years later.  She refused to even talk to Dame about him.

Him saying he did not know Aaliyah was not 18 is not believable. Him saying that he and Aaliyah made a pact not to speak about their relationship is believable. Its quite simple.
