I hate to say this but my family is my saving grace because if I wasn't born into my situation I would not like white people at all. Like some days I'm just at the end of my rope. I just can't see how after everything our ancestors and grandparents and parents went through that in 2015 we'd still being engaging in the same behavior?

I know it's so easy to say that we need to be held accountable for our own actions but how can we? These are years and years of conditioning and learned behaviors. I don't wanna get too deep but I'm just so in my feelings rn

awe. I know exactly how you feel.

I live in London so that's probably why? lol.

When I was in Miami I was shocked by how many dudes were out and about with a durag on their head? fff I would never.

Discrimination does not always make you empathetic to the struggles of others. Often times, the ones discriminated against become the biggest discriminators. They say hurt people hurt people. Gay people need to realize just because someone is gay doesn't make them Mother Teresa. You have to remember these are humans first and it's not because you're gay, it's because you're black.

What upsets me is poc always looking towards white people for validation. It's like they're saying shit will not go right if the white man is not dictating. I know you cannot escape whitness because you have to deal with white people and they do not have to deal with you. But this crying out for white approval every time they reject us makes me upset. It's like we're always looking towards white people for acceptance and approval instead of paying their asses no nevermind. I feel like the constant bitching and crying continues the infrastructure of their power.

I can't deny I like white guys from time to time, but I do not place them above my own. Nor do I see any white man as some great white hope. Nor do I feel compelled to cry from one's rejection.

Their response:

"In an effort to improve the safety of our customers at Blake?s on the Park, the management team met to discuss measures that might be taken to curb the presence of unidentifiable individuals within the establishment. The primary concern was the wearing by some of hoodies and dark glasses so as to make oneself unidentifiable. When we have had to review videotape for security reasons, the perpetrators have consistently been wearing such attire. Our customers must feel safe and the banning of hoodies and dark glasses, especially at night, will be enforced.

The recent posting of a laundry list of banned dress was not developed by management of Blake?s. The dress code is a standard code adopted by many local clubs and bars. Our intention was to post an edited list to address our specific needs, but the code was prematurely posted in error prior to the appropriate edits having been made.

We apologize to anyone who was offended by the error. We welcome ALL at Blake?s, and we will continue to make efforts to ensure the safety of ALL our customers."

I dont think the dress code is an issue, they definitely could have worded it better. Shit that is the dresscode for any straight black club I have gone to.

But see, they didn't say no jeans or sneakers or casual wear.  They said no to every typical black man thing to wear.

FINE.

no Slippers is sending me. Like I can really see Taquanda perched in the club unbothered with them on.
