you're missing the point.....she deserves success...but 5 times more success than the top black female artist?

its the inequality that people are annoyed by.

Judging by the material she puts out.....yes, she deserves 5x the success of the black female artist out.

Shes had her own hurdle to over come....her weight. Being a heavy white woman presents its own level of discrimination.

Now Miley and Taylor on the other hand

m....ok

and what hurdles? kjkjkjjkj....thats what people LOVE about her...that she's a regular sized woman.....

i'll just say when you're told enough times that someone is just so incredible and perfect you start to believe it....its a human thing...to the point were you don't even realize you've been 'brainwashed'...i dont wanna call it 'brainwashing' because the girl can clearly sing....

Yeah, Im not brainwashed.

Yes, being big is her thing. However, its not the norm, nor is it what record execs today consider marketable. Her music is sucessful because it blurs age and cultural barriers. Same reason why Janet, Michael, Whitney, and Mariahs music was so popular. Everybody could get in.

The black girls are either making music that is marketed to a specific age or culture. This is why they aren't selling like Adele. This is why no one is selling like Adele. Do I think shes the greatest singer ever? No, but I reconize when someone music transends a fad, moment, and time. Kelly, Bey, Tamar, Sevyn and friends arent gonna do it because they are to stuck in moment.

actually, you kind of are....you just dont know it....brainwashing is the wrong term....manipulation is a better term

did you think adele was so incredible when she was an alternative artist on Vh1....the media and people treating her like she's God has a HUGE effect on how you perceive her

GLOCK

He's right tho :dead:

For instance that "rise up" song from that black girl is amazing
But it didn't get a third of the push hello got
Adele slays but yeah

David is correct

all very true

the thing is if whitney couldnt do 3.5 million adele damn sure isn't worthy

has everything to do with the fact that she's white

GYNandTONIC

Bro! Ive loved Adele since chasing pavements!

Which only furthure proves my point! There was no big push for Adele EVER! Shes never released 20 videos and dropped a surprise. She didnt use the fashion industry as a tool to market herself. She sold everything off of talent and word of mouth.

Everyone at my Thanksgiving table brought Adele! From my 14 year old niece all the way up to my 65 year old mom. Blacks are buying as well. You dont sell like that just based off of a white audience.

People respect her music first! I cant say the same for the black females. They like the performace, the hair styles, the dancing, the package. But the music is lack luster. Just being honest.

Stewie

STILL missing the point...

a more talented black female artist with the same exact video and song wouldnt do 3.5 million....nowhere close
you are really living under a rock if you think her being white has anything to do with it...or that she's had to overcome 'hurdles'

are you white?

AIDS!

AIDS!

If Jazmine or Fantasia sang 'Hello' they wouldn't be selling 3 million first week

BRockaBaby

i mean it's not the artist fault. it's the consumer. black white orange or blue. people are going to buy what they want and statistics show that...well...white people buy more than black hence why white artists aren't struggling as much to push units. it's really not rocket science.

First off their singing style isnt palatable enough to cross cultural barriers. Fanny would sing it like a gospel song and the other would be running until the wheels feel off. Adeles voice has enough soul for blacks to dig in and pop enough for the white kids.

For the record Im black and very pro black!

But I said what I said, and Im sticking to it.

BRockaBaby

might I also add, it's not JUST the fact that adele is white why she's so successful. she writes her shit and has a story to go along with it. She speaks for the heartbroken and isn't afraid to push the envelope with the "asshole you hurt me" type shit. lots of female artist really try to follow the "female empowerment" route while Adele is perfectly fine talking about how fucking hurt she is over and over and people gravitate towards that.

not to mention, she's very down to earth and very IDGAF this is me. she's very authentic. though majority of her fan base is probably white, many colored people purchase and support her as well. You're right, if Jazmine Sullivan or someone were to sing "Hello" it probably wouldn't do as well but that's not just because of the skin color. it's more to it than that. Adele has a niche and she's comfortable in it and she owns it. her voice, her charisma, her artistry >>> skin color

∧ ∨ ∩ ∪

I agree with everything he said. Adele is average at best. Her music isn't anything new and I'm sure I could find someone singing the same exact mess that's black.
