Yes, Jay-Z has done a lot, but also he has GREAT opportunities and resources. Others are still trying to figure out, how to fit into a society that is not built for them. They are searching for their own opportunities and have to do so before they are able to help others. Hip Hop is allowing, many black people to sit in board rooms that they were never able to enter in the past, and be their authentic selves.  I think that Jay-Z and many celebrities like him, are a bit naive to how life works for the average black person.  They have built brands for themselves through hip-hop which allowed them to skip over many levels of the corporate process. The average black man, does not get to sit in board rooms, with short dreads and a t-shirt and explain how he feels.

This is why it is important for black leaders to have the black community in their best interest, because we are otherwise grossly under represented.  I think this is why the community responses harshly when  they feel betrayed by those that are sitting at those tables and able to have those discussions. Part of what Jay-Z said is true about himself. We only know that him and RocNation has a partnership, what exactly will they do?

Saying you don't have the resources is a cheap copout. Anyone can start a non profit and get shit done if they are truly passionate.  Some of y'all just want to tweet and instagram to make y'all selves look good and because it attracts attention.

The fact is jay doesn't have to a damn thing. He can say fuck y'all and go help ppl in 3rd world countries that will actually be appreciative as apposed to sitting on their boost mobile unleashing fumes on their socials.

Issue with me is Jay's inconsistency with the NFL.

One minute shading them in his songs, encouraging others not to associate with their events, and the next shaking hands with them and telling Black men to stop kneeling.

If he or any of his batshit crazy fans can't see how that could possibly send mixed messages (especially when he hasn't done the greatest job of explaining it), that's on them.
