I put it along the line w/ colored wigs. Most people just love to dabble in different mess.

I never think of "trying to fit beauty standards! sellout!" when I see a person of color wearing contacts.     

I agree to an extent, but when someone wears them practically 24/7 and then
tries to give the impression that they're real. That's when I see it as an issue.

Like, Kenya was on Wendy's radio show a while back and one of the guys
said he thought she wore contacts and she took offense.

So she lied about wearing colored contacts. That makes her a liar I guess?

Does it mean she's subconsciously trying to look like Becky instead of Keisha?

If you're gonna rock them that's totally fine. I don't see a problem with it at all,
but to try and make people think they're your real eyes let's me know there's
something else going on with you.

Just like when these guys book their naps with an S-Curl and then tell the gorls
that it's their natural mess when asked about it.

I'm sure some can say that its all simply "enhancements".....or "softening the hair"...or one of the many justifications I've seen..

But if that were the case she wouldn't straighten her hair or wear makeup. She does simple things to enhance her natural beauty..

btw, since when is straightening of our natural hair an "enhancement"? What about straight hair is better, exactly? This all goes back to the problem I am talking about thru this thread. But mess. I don't wanna get back into it. 

I never said "straight hair enhances beauty" but it can be used to enhance beauty to pull of a certain look. Same can be said for when a person curls their hair etc. Straight hair is not superior nor are colored eyes.

I'm glad you clarified your own definition of an enhancement. But you cannot blame me for questioning what you said. Because this is the meaning of an enhancement:

an increase or improvement in quality, value

So when I see straightened hair listed as an enhancement, it gives me a bit of moment. But I see where you are coming from.

You guys know I have an ongoing love affair with beautiful dark skinned women.    Kenya is (was) quite high on my list. Naomi is somewhere in the middle. I always thought they had the most beautiful eyes. So you could imagine my dismay to find out that they both wear colored contacts.

A big reason I love these women is because of their unapologetic pride in their own skin, heritage and natural beauty. I thought GODya and 'omi were better than the whole 1998 colored contact mess. Still love them but for some reason I'm so disappointed. I feel as if these types of "add-ons" say that our natural God given beauty isn't enough. This is better, this is prettier.

You don't see white women going around changing their icy blue eyes or green eyes to brown. But mess. I still love them, but it's tainted. Ignorance is truly bliss.

Maybe they just like that contacts AMPLIFIES their look a bit

Do men really care about that mess anyway? Things like eye & hair color seem so minuscule and silly to me, Nails & eyelashes too. I don't understand this arched eyebrow thing.
