what do you mean exactly with shiny locked?

The starters cannot be shiny. Only if you breed them. Normally in past games you could reset until you got a shiny starter (which is really rare) but there are many people who do it. For whatever reason....they placed a shiny lock on the new starters so they can never be shiny when you choose your starter. Ever.

the shiny sparkles do look amazing in the game though  the odds are also still the same as Sun and Moon. 1/4096 chance of finding a shiny in the wild.

I honestly didn't care that they cut the dex  I only cared about the starters being shiny locked. There was no logical reason to do that. It's never been done before. Gamefreak is a mess. No doubt this will still sell tons though. Like they always do.

Shield has the better exclusives imo.
