I think it stings more for Bert because he himself, and his following, tout him as the "King" of R&B music.
With such bold self proclamations come very high expectations. It's simple. He knows this himself, which is why he was clearly upset with the direction his sales were headed in.

Yeah King is on an entirely different level than Monica. I agree. Holiday having, 150 million record sold having self.

:feelinmyself:
Exactly.

So it's understandable as to why he's upset. But he has to understand no one's reign on music stays forever. If Michael himself declined at some point, EVERY artist will. No need to throw race cards when you've had such an outrageously successful career with your black race in tact the entire time.

It's whining when you're perched somewhere rich, platinum plaques hanging and tears falling talking about the struggle being real. :plzstop:

When did R. Kelly ever say he's upset?  :plzstop:

Tbh Bert is pushing 50 and still keeping up and OUTDOING with people two generations after him like Jeremih, August, Trey. Which female is doing it.

I know mentioning Toni with Beyonc? and Rih would be just ridiculous lol. Kellz fits right in.

But that's all I say on the matter.

Chris did 100K+, don't see where Rob is fitting in there, but mess on.

You're comparing Toni to pop artists and comparing Robert to other R&B acts. :dead:

Toni cannot dance, she's not a performer and she's not a pop artist. Of course she wouldn't fit in with Beyonce or Rihanna. Even in her heyday. :plzstop: She's always given me an updated, hip version of Anita.

Right! He is the same conversation. Doing collabs with them, still being used for all the popular hooks. The longevity is unmatched.

Toni already gave "washed" by the time Jay-Z demolished her Bonnie & Clyde mess.

Bert did 100k+ just 2 years ago. And now he did 33k, while Jeremih did 12k or whatevs

And Toni, Chris, Bert, Rih are all crossover/urban artists. Chris does the music Rih does, but putting Bert and him together in current urban music goes perfectly fine.

But Toni just has that WHIFF of 1996. Luv her and all, but just keeping it honest.

Toni's fine. Both of her last two albums have scanned over 35K in their first week and she has a Grammy in hand this year.

End of that conversation.

Chris did a bunch of promo.

I don't get why you all are trying to disqualify promotion and just compare all these people.

People can't support an album they don't know about. PERIOD. Search Twitter, there's dialogue about Chris album. When Kellz dropped there was barely any. The people who bought the album are stans  :kii:

Right she is washed. A lifetime movie and she's dying. She is done.

Honestly I doubt Monica is crying about her numbers.
She seems very content and I doubt we'll see her on social media throwing the race card into the conversation about why she "flopped". As fucking annoying (and murderous :ohwow: ) as she is, she seems to know her place in music and accept it.

And that was the REAL ki not the 30k

But his bitch ass on youtube begging black people to buy his album only to have him flop to the pits of hell the next day.
