Wtf is "nappy hair"?



Is that even real thing?



I recently thought about how as a child I'd always hear jokes about nappy hair (pretty much used towards anyone not mixed or sporting 'baby hairs') and I was always just like woo yeah haha. Niggers. 

But I didn't get it?



Because my family wasn't full of weird fucked up black people ( Well not in that sense Lolz) do it wasn't used in my home life. Just school.

Anywho. As an adult all I see is "normal" black hair from black people. All types of textures and types and colors and now I'm like "OMG, all those coons I went to school with were just brainwashed"   

So, is it just that the word has a negative connotation to it? Because this is what Google brings up when I search nappy hair:



All I see is normalcy.

Well most of the blacks at my school had fades, relaxers, and weaves so anything "natural" was considered Nappy unless it was soft wavy curls.

Nappy hair is a word used to described kinky hair. Kinky hair is actually a real thing, and a real category. It's the negative connotations that we attach to these descriptions or categories that make them a "bad thing".
e.g. "You nappy headed bitch." I don't like the word "nappy" (only because I know how many people use that word), and I'd never use it to describe someone else's head. It's quite offensive. Although I have seen people use it with pride. There are many people trying to REVERSE the negative feelings toward the name. And infuse it with pride and love.

The ones who are able to grow a proper Afro have nappy hair. The perfect hedge looking ones, no the ones where you can see curls.
