I feel like with every album she was givin us TONE. And each had its highlights.

I particularly love the grit and rasp of Afro, particularly when it was softened on Focus and Where You Wanna Be.

The richness and clarity of Human.

And her tone on the unreleased track "Honey" 

I love how sweet it is; she literally sounds like honey would sound if honey had a sound. this queen.

It's so funny because I remember on one of the old boards, I started an "Artists who Praise Brandy" thread, to gather receipts for folks who said she couldn't sing, was irrelevant etc and to see this is just...I still see the rare comment like that from people who don't "get it", but those comments don't really bother me as much anymore. Anyone who listens to her albums chronologically should be able to hear her vocal progression.

I remember Kindred saying Rodney worked on the Bran album like last year

She was actually pursuing him harder than he was. She wanted ideas from him to see what he had and she did like some rough takes here and there but nothing solid

No complete song actually came from the back and forth, if i recall. Anything is possible though

This is Rodney talkin about What About Us right? Yeah, he definitely got a front seat in seeing her vocal progression. I wouldnt even call it a progression cause I wouldnt say her vocal necessarily got better - she just gave something different. She been that girl. If anything, her progression came more from her vocal arrangements. A frickin Queen.
