Places like grocery stores, pharmacies, etc are essential to leaving. You have to eat, you have to get medication, you have to get sanitary products. A beach trip is not essential to me.

We are talking about spreading  a virus. Essential or not...spreading is spreading.

And if opening up non essential public areas puts us in a worse position than we are already in, then what?

Y'all do realize that people are just walking the beach right? The intent was to allow people to walk the beach. Not lay out and have a tan with a party of 20.

That is the intention, but when does anyone ever abide by restrictions and guidelines.

The beaches are heavily patrolled. If you lay down and don't abide you get told to move the along and you can get fined.
