I get what he's saying.... whether it's good or bad, it's still our history. And future generations have a right to see it. My family and I literally visited Charleston SC last Christmas and saw the ORIGINAL one and did a slave tour of the town.. it's literally where my ancestors first touched American soil. It was beautiful to have "some" kind of connection to my ancestors and history, whether it was good or bad. So I get what he's saying..
HOWEVER.... I obviously understand and support the symbolism of burning it down. It's a toxic memory... and we don't necessarily need that physical reminder.
The monument literally symbolizes that black lives don't matter... and the fact that it's still perched basically represents that the idea behind it hasnt really changed. So if we're genuinely going to move forward as a country and change the treatment of African Americans, then let's do that... Burn the Charleston mess down next. LOLZ
