In the social media era, I dont think there really is a universally revered song by anyone tbh
almost any song you name, ppl can find someone hating on it

"Classics" don't look the same as in the past.

Everyone recieved the music source from the same few platforms and they all pushed specifically things. Which made them feel bigger.


In this social media & streaming generation we get to choose everything we want and reject what we don't.

Back then everyone at least knew or heard of the number 1 song in the country.

Now some songs can sit number 1 or top 10 and I've never even heard of it once. 

A classic is a classic.

It makes an IMPACT and you feel its presence throughout the industry.



a modern rap classic. It was HUGE, it was FELT, it made impact and launched this bitch FAR above Nicki.

Because it was huge doesn't make it a classic. 


I know plenty of Luther or Marvin Gay classics that only the black community would know. Doesn't negate its classic status.

A classic is simply a song that captured a moment in time that still sounds good as time has went on.
