Well apparently when he robbed the woman they ransacked her house looking for drugs 
he apparently had a real addiction, which doesn't excuse the behavior but gives an idea why he was willing to hold a gun to a pregnant woman, it wasn't for fun or because he really wanted to kill a woman and/or her child 
but whatever the case, I think the main focus should be that he's never gonna be able to make things right because he was murdered

the story is very disturbing to me but I can understand a little more if this was done because of his drug addiction.
people can def find themselves blacking out and doing some shit they normally wouldn't do for the substance
