WHY tho?!

omg

!

I hate when producers do this. The whole point of making hits is that you can live off them indefinitely.

This just seems tacky to me.

yummy

QuoteThe news of the acquisition comes just one week after Hipgnosis, which trades on the London Stock Exchange, increased the amount of debt it can access in order to continue its aggressive acquisition strategy, having secured an increase to its Revolving Credit Facility from GBP £150m (circa $188m) to USD $400m.

That news came just two weeks after the company raised nearly $300m via the sale of C shares

I don't understand any of this financial jargon but I'm guessing this is a billion dollar company. Kinda scary to know that one company has partial ownership over so much music.

Ain't no way. He must be broke.
With all these hits... ANYTHING can happen.

BORderline

If a company is interested in it, they sure can make it flourish a thousand times and sure did not buy it for its real value.

This nigga is sick.

reekz

If they want to buy out your catalog, clearly it's valuable. Wtf nigger

Without doing anything! Passive income!
He has 4 children to feed tho...

TriBeCa

Wow. I would never sell my songs if I were him. That's something I would keep in my family and pass down to my children. He has so many classics and couldn't see him needing the money unless he lives beyond his means.

I know he doesn't need the money so why the hell would he do that? :uhh:

He doesn't own any of these songs and im sure at this point he has made all the bulk amount of money he was going to make of publishing. Most of his massive hits are 20+ years. Its a great way to see 1 more big paycheck.

Now why The-Dream did it while single ladies and umbrella are still fairly young...makes no damn sense to me.

Wait so you think he doesn't own them?

He owns or owned whichever percentage he had of the publishing as a writer / producer.

However the person who owns the masters actually owns the song.

That could be the label, the artist, management. Typically not the producer tho.
