Huge Congrats to Brandy.This is amazing.Especially after having to do 97% of promo from her home.

Also Billboard Current charts are basically Pure Sales charts.They just removed the streaming figures.So no one is lying.

Its just PR and clever wording and technically not incorrect. The average person ain't RUNNING to billboard to make sure she isn't #1 (like y'all do on here). There's no "embarrassment" in this. Its getting a lot of good press and could potentially generate more interest for people to check the album out. Its a smart move by her team.

The Top Current Albums Chart only factor in PURE SALES, no catalog albums/streams. The other R&B artists mentioned sold less in hard copies...

Brandy is #4 this week in the Top Current Albums.
However, she is the highest charting R&B act on the Top Current Album chart (pure sales). Hence, she is #1 in Current (pure sales) for R&B in that respect - and her label used that language.

R&B Albums
R&B/ Hip-Hop Albums
Independent Albums

Also #4 on Top Billboard Albums and as we already know #12 on Billboard 200.

This post and title of the thread is a whole ass lie

I apologize for not realizing they chose to take her #4 position on an actual chart and then use a technicality to say she's #1
