Toni is really legendary.
This biopic is so well deserved.
She didn't reach the heights of Whitney, etc.
but I don't think that was the goal from the beginning. she definitely wanted to be in her own lane.

she just happened to bump heads with them a bit...especially when she snatched that Grammy from Whitney. she showed a different way of approaching music as a black woman. definitely the first of her kind -- to focus on heartbreak, and sing it with such conviction, while still being sexy at the same time. Toni fucking booked, I'm sor.
And her hardships in life make it all the more better. I think people love seeing that stars aren't perfect, and aren't living picture perfect lives. She had money issues, she went through divorce....people gravitate towards realness. without her struggles I doubt she would have gotten a biopic.
