A delivery fee is paid to the company. Most likely covers the company's charges for gas/vehicle wear and tear, etc. That doesn't go into the pocket of the person who delivered your food.

I'm usually generous with tips. They work for very little money hourly to make our lives more convenient. I give a little more if they're black.

I have no problem leaving them light handed if they show up really late, seem careless, etc.

but it takes a LOT for me not to tip someone. you'd really have to be extremely incompetent

And we usually have our favorite places to order....and sometimes you may get the same guy....if ur nice to ur delivery guy....it's a way to ensure saliva won't end up tucked away in ur pizza crust somewhere. I always take it seriously when someone's handling anything I have to put into my body. it's totally in their control until it arrives at your doorstep.

even if I'm in person. when I'm at a diner or something and i even THINK someone that I am with is getting an attitude with the waiter I'll call them on it real quick and won't care how they feel...risk the safety of your own food on your own time.
