Afrodisiac's best choice for 1st single was Afrodisiac. It was catchy and infectious. Would've worked well with the 106 and TRL crowd.

None of the songs on Afro was gonna be a hit. Brandy kinda struggled to have that bona-fide hit record after NSN. The 1st time I hrd a song I knew would smash after NSN was PID. Afrodisiac's best choice for 1st single was Afrodisiac. It was catchy and infectious. Would've worked well with the 106 and TRL crowd.

!!!!!

I know a lot of girls are side-eying but it's true though! This time period had a lot of "corny" uptempo singles that started the era up and Afrodisiac fit right in that batch. With the right video, choreo & image, Brandy could've sold that shit.

If not, WIS2U could've led but it needed a way bigger video to sell it

in 2004 afrodisiac would have popped in the states

the live performance would have needed to go harder tho

I remember TAOL was very popular here
The music video on tv was on repeat
I have always loved that song so muchh
Was it more popular in Europe somehow?

i think the video for Afro was just not a good look
and the video for Who is she 2 u didn't really have an impact somehow

TOAL was the only single on Afro IMO. It was on the radio regularly where I'm from and the video was def in rotation.

Her biggest hiccup with Afro was not solidifying WIS2U w/ Usher. The remix should've been the official 2nd single.

Also her image was so forced and she never looked confident. That whole era I remember Brandy looking pretty but seeming like a fish out of water. The videos during that era read the same way to me.

!

I think stronger visuals would have helped too, if anything this should have been the era where Brandy was giving edgy/alternative not sex kitten.

I remember the first time I heard Afrodisiac. The production and the beat were hot but I thought the chorus was kind of weak to me. Of course the song grew on me.

And I know everyone here hates Sadiddy but that was my favorite song after I previewed the album at the CD store. :dead:

TAOL was the wrong first single for the fact alone that it didn't represent the album sonically at all. It HAD to be a Timbo song.

!!!!! Honestly. WIS2U w/Usher should've been the official/original version of the song... and with a high budget visual. The cheap ass video for WIS2U really turned me off. I'm sorry, but there was something so cheap about the Afro era to me. Ffghbjnn

Two Eleven was the "sex kitten" era in my eyes. It was very natural feeling and unforced. Just very grown up and sexy. I agree that Afro should've been her "edgy" era.

Which is why Kanye should've produced the entire album. He gave ha QUALITY mess.

:nowgorl:

FUCK Bey

And the Kanye tracks are cohesive with each other. The Tim mess just feels thrown the fuck TOGETHER imo. No cohesion
