to sit and actually have a conversation with a member of an oppressed group that you may not be very familiar with or have much direct experience with
Putting aside your own personal assumptions , theories. Shutting your mouth and listening. Being prepared to realize how ignorant and foolish some of your questions may be to them. Being prepared to be corrected . Accepting the correction .
Not allowing your pride or ego to get in the way.
Whether that group be black women, natives , black people in general ... if more people did this they would have a COMPLETELY different outlook.
So it's not so much about JUST having the conversation , but making sure your ego is in the back pocket and ur humility is in the front pocket as u approach the table.
