& i never understood coming out
You're basically telling the world what ur doing with ur private parts. It ain't necessary
It goes a bit deeper for many people.
Being gay, especially in the black community, obviously isn't the most favorable of positions to be in socially.
So many chose to intentionally hide it, or avoid discussing it.
Coming out opens the door to begin having these conversations; it says that you're not hiding who you are anymore and are open about it. also things like introducing your significant other to your family as just that -- your significant other -- instead of a "friend", etc.
I agree that it's definitely a case by case basis thing, but I see the point in it.
