I don't see a lot wrong with that she said????

Im sure a lot of us feel like we would/could have helped and not stood by. She can't feel like that because she's white? nnn

The songstress, 74, admitted that she realized that she hurt people "by not knowing everything that's 'not appropriate to say.'

"I know Ppl Apologize When They're In a Jam, BUT [hand] TO GOD ... IM TRULY SORRY If I Upset AnyOne In [the black] Community. I Know My [heart]," she wrote on Twitter.

The singer came under fire after she tweeted Friday that she was watching the trial of ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who planted his knee on Floyd's neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds during a routine bust.

Is Gonna Sound CRAZY,But ... I Kept Thinking ... Maybe If I'd Been There, ... I Could've Helped," she wrote.

Many people online accused her of white privilege and being tone deaf.

"The size of your white savior complex is overwhelming," wrote one Twitter user.

But the singer doubled down on her tweet Saturday, insisting that she had the experience to intervene in the fatal police encounter.

"Wrestled With This Twt, Because I Thought some ppl wouldn't understand, Or Believe an Entertainer Could have Honest emotions about a human Being, suffering & Dying, even if It's Only Shown On tv. You Don't Know What I've Done,Who I Am,Or What I Believe.I CAN,I HAVE,& I WILL..HELP," Cher wrote on Twitter.

i think shes sweet

but i could see some people taking it as her making the situation about herself.

we all know this issue is much bigger than just having someone there to "save" a black man at any given moment

george floyd's mess is only the tip of an iceberg, a taste of what happens to plenty of Black men every day
this is a huge conversation that extends way beyond george and that specific incident.

so for her to sorta minimize(?) it all to "ugh if i was there this could have been avoided!" ....i can see how that could offend people.

I don't think she did that intentionally...but I understand

But I mean she and her mom were talking about George Floyd, so she commented on being there for George Floyd, not solving police brutality :dead: Can they not understand that part? People need to quit it sometimes. Anyone who is offended can blame themselves for the way they purposefully interpret everything as something to be offended by. Fkn ew

L0NZ.

We ask for White allies to speak up, to care, to show support, then scrutinize the way they do it. I'm not saying her tweet is equivalent to charity, or physical protest, but come on

I see what you mean

but this is a huge conversation that extends way beyond george and that specific incident.

when u really look at it, it's actually a pretty useless statement she made.
there's nothing anyone can do with that BUT pick it tf apart if they're bored enough.

she probably shoulda just kept that convo between herself and her mother, not millions on twitter.

aren't most tweets pretty useless tho? thats kinda like the nature of twitter-- sharing your own (generally useless) thoughts. she kinda used the platform the way its supposed to be. ppl are just emotional and looking for outlets. these days, if you give them an INKLING of anything they will pounce.

but like yall already said, its clear quee is a sweetheart. she's gonna be fine

The Only BLACK Kalmyks

There's gonna be  a difference between sharing a random, useless thought on a casserole you cooked last week and being a famous white woman sharing a random useless thought on the murder of an unarmed black man.
