A lot of us keep these academies on a pedestal... which is kinda crazy considering a network has to PULL them off the air just to make them to include black people

They don't use us. Why do we still use an exalt them? And use their trophies to measure the merit of our artists and other talent?

And a lot of us STILL use these awards to measure black artistic merit when we know enough to know that the system is flawed.

We still hold them as the standard. Which is crazy to me.

Using Grammys and mess to argue ur favs is dated at this point  IMO

GODni has about 8 of them and I honestly cannot remember the last time I brought them up when someone tried her .

In fact I can't stand the way she blatantly tries to CATER to the committee with her albums lately... it's super obvious and a damn snooze fest . But she's from a certain era so I get it.

NBC is doing exactly what needs to be done.

I mean Tom Cruises white self is even handing back his trophies cuz he realizes it's not a true win if the game wasn't fair .

He gets it. The trophies are no longer valuable to him. but sadly many of our own people still don't get it.

We don't admit it but we want White acceptance because it's still seen as the ultimate win by many of us. Not "just" a "n**ger award".

As if the black awards shows aren't nominating, awarding favouring the same individuals every year in hopes they'll show up for ratings and ignoring people who actually worked that particular year

I personally think there needs to be more diversity and inclusivity on the voting boards, of course anyone who is passionate about their craft and work wants to be recognised, validated or celebrated in whatever industry there in.

the white shows definitely only pick a select few from that group to MAYBE get a nod every 2 yrs or so
