I'll be totally honest, I have ZERO interest in knowing the origins of my ancestors :dead:

I see you guys doing the DNA testing and applaud you all for digging into your family's history, but knowing how much slavery fucked up our collective gene pool...it turns me off.

Yeah the far off mixtures really do have darker stories behind them.
It's kinda sad/scary

That's true. I can see how many would to want to know that.

But they don't all have to be that way; for example my Grandma met my Grandma in Japan and they had a baby and uprooted to the south together.
Nothing really dark in that; so you never really know.

I think it's cool to find out who you could be related to too

So many cousin ms they're able to put you in touch with

I really don't get it.  :dead: What's the fascination with being 1% Cherokee? or having ancestors who were white? Does it make them feel more "exotic"?

I'm just now watching and this is crazy

Almost scary how he said she said can become your TRUTH if you let it

Smh

Gilgamesh.

When the narrator said "even Don Cheadle..." why did I think he was about say "...who is as Black as hell thought he had some Indian in him" :kii:

We don't have an identity issue lolz

Herb.

I'm glad to find out who my grandmother is. My mother is half of my makeup . Was raised by her family and knowing where I come from is important to me.

All depends on the person. My little sister couldn't care less. Lol

All jokes aside I truly envy that

Glenda

I feel like I had somewhat of an identity issue before, but a lot of things kinda makes sense, just based off my mom's results.

I'm so anxious to get my own results though so I can really put together the puzzle.

Herb.

My mothers family has a beautiful history right here in America. Not every line of my ancestry includes cottonfields. But for those who do I can understand not wanting to dig into it. Cuz I'm surely not reaching back to research or claim any of the people who enslaved my fathers family.

My grandmothers family did not come from Slavery. Her mother was of native descent and her father was mulengeon. And they were free people of color.

Originally from saint Domingue.

All of which has been confirmed. Not he said she said. I know their names I know where they lived. I did my homework. And that's the difference between genuinely wanting to know who you are...and claiming mess to seem more exotic.
