I never understood why Chrisette got canceled, while other artists who openly supported Trump (I don't recall her actually supporting him) received little to no backlash. Even the popular gospel artist she performed with slid by unscathed.

Chrisette was on some bullshit though. When she said people didnt cancel Obama and he was there at the inauguration, that was the last straw for me. Remember she also used some picture of google images and posted it as her miscarriage? And then the doubling down on what she did and Tina Campbell getting involved. She did a lot. And performing at the inauguration I guess was a big deal since so many other black artists turned him down. Even the ones who said yes eventually caught heat and pulled out. She didn't.

Because no one was ready checking for her from jump. So it was EASY to do

emotions were running high, people were panicking about trump getting office (for good reason) and u have a black woman volunteering to serenade him as he marches in.
Ultimately she knew the risks and still decided to roll the dice . So I can't feel too sorry for her . She knew what could happen and still went forward. It was thought out , planned and executed. Not a random thoughts tweet that got blown out of proportion .
Consequences are real, and should be taken seriously before u start to purposely vogue on the edge. This isn't Disneyland

I don't notice a steep decline in her career. She wasn't shit before that. That's exactly why she did it in the first place it was the biggest check of her life. She lost respect. But I don't see the grand downfall, cancellation, or imagine that she lost out on countless bags and opportunities. People didn't support her in 2016 and still wouldn't in 2021. She did it for the money she don't see in music.

When your fanbase was already dwindling, it was a bad move. It's not like she was super popular to begin with. This isn't a Kanye West situation who has a huge fanbase and is known for saying and doing crazy shit to begin with. But she thought she was gonna get a whole new audience and that's the gag.
