According to Deadline a rep for the show stated:
"We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country. We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey."

Like wtf the show was in everyone lips and people were literally anticipating a 2nd season :shook:
thought it was a one n done mess anyways :uhh:
How the FUCK?! :uhh:
It's based on the comic or book, right? It was always only meant to be a mini series. Season 2 was just something they considered conceptualizing but literally nothing has even been written, i don't think.
I'm still sad tho :'(
QuoteBut the enthusiastic reception of the first season of Lovecraft Country, created, executive produced and showrun by Green and produced by J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot and Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, did not automatically guarantee a renewal.
That is because Season 1 was based on Matt Ruff's book, which served as a roadmap for the series. Like HBO has done with other series, most notably Big Little Lies, which ended up producing an original second season after a first installment based on Liane Moriarty's novel, HBO did pursue a potential second chapter of Lovecraft Country.
The main actor is apart of the MCU now.
Doubt he would have even come back
LMAO!
AHHHH!!!
You gotta be fucking kidding me :fuming:
It's what you faggots deserve
I figured it was only gonna be one season
:uhh:
I'm fckn pissed. Like, the show definitely did well and was nominated for emmys and everything, so it couldnt have been a decision based on that. Like who decided this :uhh:

:feelinmyself:
Won't he do it!
It makes sense. They had already added a bunch of unnecessary elements to the show that were never in the book, doing another season would be overkill.
I wanted to like this series so bad, but I couldn't get in! I still supported and watched it through the end.

HBO's social media comments are in shambles.I think it had to do with the budget, which was $25M an episode.

25 mil an episode sounds kinda high, but it definitely wasn't cheap to make.

The series, which launches August 16, included 162 sets, and Green said that one episode of Lovecraft Country cost the same to make as five episodes of WGN's Underground.

Those ratings were not good. They couldn't reach a 1 million viewers. Im sure it did better in streaming though.

The ratings were good :dead:
QuoteA total audience of 1.5 million tuned in on Sunday night across all platforms, marking a season high for the well-received drama. That number is up around 16% from the season premiere back in August. In terms of the linear HBO broadcast, 881,000 people watched the finale, also a series high to date. For comparison, the finale of fellow HBO standout "Watchmen" drew 1.6 million viewers, and Sunday night's climax out-performed the "Succession" season 2 finale.
"Lovecraft Country" is currently the number 1 show on HBO Max, per the streamer, and at this point its premiere is nearing 10 million viewers on the platform. The finale saw a 90% increase on digital from the premiere.
the show definitely slayed. :dead:
It was meant to be a miniseries cuz it's based on one book but Misha has tried piecing a season 2 together the last few months.
It was a tall order
