QuoteKelly Rowland is making progress on her untitled, fifth solo album. In fact, the singer tells ABC Radio that she's recorded nearly 50 tracks so far for the follow-up to 2013?s Talk a Good Game.
"I've recorded 45 songs to be completely honest, the challenge for me right now is solidifying like exactly what sound that is, I have three different sounds on the table," she says. "So I just want to know what that is and I feel like I have two albums...that's not cool, I just need one."
Last year, Rowland teased a bouncy song called ?Dumb,? but is this the direction she's heading in? Rowland reveals that sonically her project will stay close to her R&B roots.
"It's definitely more R&B and to the core of even the dance music, it's still soul and that's the core of who I am, is my soul, and I always want that to come across," she says
Rowland also promises to release new music next month, adding, "I'm actually gearing up for a video right now, actually in rehearsals for a video right now I'm excited about. There's going to be a video." She coyly adds that it will entail "much movement."
While she continues working on the album, we will see Kelly on her BET reality-based show, titled Chasing Destiny, which premieres April 5 at 10 p.m. ET.

I hope she follows the same formula, Kelly will never be an 'innovative' artist, she should continue to make good R&B music
Right
Her fans don't ask for much
!!!!
45 or 450.
It really makes no difference where Kelly is concerned.
Same thing every album.
For me, her albums gets better with each release, TAGG being her best. It'll be hard for her to top it. I don't think her fans' concerns with her is the material so much but its with how the album is handled. Scrapped singles, delays, lack of promo, short eras, all a damn mess.

And this right here is the main problem with many urban female acts. There is NO direction, no concept, no anything.
They just record and record and record with a bunch of people without even knowing what they really want for the album, and after 30-50 songs, they stop: "ok, what album do I want now?"
:nowgorl:
And then they complain why the r&b sales/state is so poor these days :dead:
Artists change direction through the recording process all the time, by the time they finish a 'concept', they would have had it for so long that they are not into it anymore
How do you know it's not 50 amazing songs and she has a bunch of ideas? Lol

If an artist REALLY believes in a concept, they dont drop it as easily.
These people just arent artists at all, lol, they accept tracks from other people and call it a day. Lets be totally honest, lol. This is how it is.
'Artist' means someone who CREATES art. And most of these females dont create. This is the sad truth.
Yea, I think I remember Kelly saying she wanted the album to be all uptempos. She probably had some producers send her some mids and ballads which she liked and decided to record. I'd prefer hearing a mixture from Kelly but an all uptempo concept album sounds more interesting than a regular R&B album.
Kelly was innovative with the dance craze.
But most of her fans in us were not here for it.
What I will say is TAGGED was too me perfection. It was like Ms. Kelly on steroids with a more mature vocalist.
Breh Down on Love alone is one of the best contemporary R&B songs I've heard in recent years.
I am ready for this era. Another era where she outsells most of the rnb girls, with a 1/10 of the promo.
I probably wont listen to the full album, so honestly I dont really care what she records, (sadly)

Your too critical when it involves 'urban female artists'
Kelly doesn't even make good albums she usually has a lot filler. Hopefully since she has 40 choices it's no filler on the album.

thats not even a lot of songs. "Artists" do this all the time. You decide on theme and concepts later on. It doesn't mean you don't know what sound you wanna go for
Being an artist is all about changing and evolving all the time, along with adapting and being a chameleon. Brandy recorded over 150 songs during the Full moon process and she was extremely creative
Would you sit here and deny that masterpiece of an album? No. so it all depends

sometimes i feel when artists are choosing songs for an album they should maybe choose random fans or oridinary ppl who like that genre of music to help choose songs for the album. so they can get a perspective on what the gen pop wants to hear

I feel like Kelly just pick demos off a hard drive that she wants to record.
Then bundles them together and calls it an album.
Nothing sounds like it was actually CREATED for her.
45 songs written and produced for her by more talented producers/songwriters. Its sad the industry is pushing this thot and ciara down our throats, when there are way more deserving women in industry. She'll never sell, so whats the point. They wasting time on this girl, she doesn't have confidence NOR STAR POWER.

Nivea has wrote and produced every single song she has sung sans 5 songs on Animalistic. So what's your point? Kelly doesn't know how to read so how u expect her to write a song with a distinctive topic. Bye.
And she can keep ALL 45 of them. UNLESS there is a Queen Brandy or Beyonc? feature, then she can keep 44 of them
whatever she chooses, it'll be great as usual.
hurry up with the album, luv!

best of luck

so if its anything like that, I'll be happy

Brandy is a different case, and about Full Moon, she had a chemistry with ONE producer so they created magic.
We cant say the same thing about most of these other girls. They record without knowing what they want, and its not about evolving, people evolve over the years, albums dont "evolve", artists just change directions, thats not evolving, lol. When you have a clear idea about the album you want, you do it in a short period of time, the reason why most girls take years to release is because they are lost musically.

Exactly and it's not just urban female acts lolz Maybe that's just what he/she pays attention too lol because the "pop acts" do the same process of recording and changing direction throughout the process etc... Adele did it, Justin Timberlake does it, Christina Ag', Lady Gaga, Beyonc?, and so on.. It's called being an artist as you stated, Rig..
And a lot of the ones that pump out fast albums are not "artist" they are guided and told what to sing.
