"I've recorded 45 songs to be completely honest, the challenge for me right now is solidifying like exactly what sound that is"

And this right here is the main problem with many urban female acts. There is NO direction, no concept, no anything.

They just record and record and record with a bunch of people without even knowing what they really want for the album, and after 30-50 songs, they stop: "ok, what album do I want now?"

:nowgorl:

And then they complain why the r&b sales/state is so poor these days  :dead:

AIDS!

Artists change direction through the recording process all the time, by the time they finish a 'concept', they would have had it for so long that they are not into it anymore
How do you know it's not 50 amazing songs and she has a bunch of ideas? Lol

If an artist REALLY believes in a concept, they dont drop it as easily.

These people just arent artists at all, lol, they accept tracks from other people and call it a day. Lets be totally honest, lol. This is how it is.

'Artist' means someone who CREATES art. And most of these females dont create. This is the sad truth.

Yea, I think I remember Kelly saying she wanted the album to be all uptempos. She probably had some producers send her some mids and ballads which she liked and decided to record. I'd prefer hearing a mixture from Kelly but an all uptempo concept album sounds more interesting than a regular R&B album.

Kelly was innovative with the dance craze.
But most of her fans in us were not here for it.

What I will say is TAGGED was too me perfection. It was like Ms. Kelly on steroids with a more mature vocalist.

Breh Down on Love alone is one of the best contemporary R&B songs I've heard in recent years.

I am ready for this era. Another era where she outsells most of the rnb girls, with a 1/10 of the promo.

I probably wont listen to the full album, so honestly I dont really care what she records, (sadly)

then go and listen to country music or some mess
Your too critical when it involves 'urban female artists'

Kelly doesn't even make good albums she usually has a lot filler. Hopefully since she has 40 choices it's no filler on the album.

thats not even a lot of songs. "Artists" do this all the time. You decide on theme and concepts later on. It doesn't mean you don't know what sound you wanna go for

Being an artist is all about changing and evolving all the time, along with adapting and being a chameleon.  Brandy recorded over 150 songs during the Full moon process and she was extremely creative

Would you sit here and deny that masterpiece of an album? No. so it all depends

:dead: I hated her entire last album.
Hopefully I like this one.

every last fucking song!!!!

sometimes i feel when artists are choosing songs for an album they should maybe choose random fans or oridinary ppl who like that genre of music to help choose songs for the album.  so they can get a perspective on what the gen pop wants to hear
