She should be huge rn
she spoke facts and i support her
these FAGS always complaining about the gors success are the same ones that don't support SHIT
Shes cute but does nothing for me
She deserve support
her, Teyana and Tinashe are criminally underrated
KeKe too
While I don't think she has a good music, and she's not really interesting, idk why people would tweet that to her.
Just rude.
Proper music, look nd rollout would do it

Her album was cute or whatever but she doesn't promote and has zero personality. On top of that, she's an independent artist.

She's boring honestly. Love her, but I have no clue what her story is. Honestly, a lot of these flop artists just need to join forces and become a girl group. A BET Encore Presents mess and a show that goes more into their lives so we can know who they are. I could see her, Teyana and Sevyn be in a group. And maybe 1 more.

Wish ppl would realize success isn't measured the same across the board. Some people are successful in their eyes if their art reaches 50 people. Not everyone desires for a mega level of fame.

!!!!!!
Unpopular opinion but i feel, the field is just overcrowded, for anyone to break out and become an star. When it comes to the new R&B girls, they basically all have the same sound and give the samething imo. Just seatfillers for the next. Not one of these girls give me SPECIAL!
She has a few cute songs and there's no denying that she's gorgeous, but she's a very basic singer & performer.
i think we too focused on finding a new superstar as opposed to just enjoying what these artists are fckn providing to us musically
wild side shits and while have mercy is underwhelming, i honestly don't think its a bad song either
its honestly all of us thats doing too much
:letsmessfag:
I disagree with that Oph. I'm looking for timeless music and im not getting that from these new artist. After a few weeks of streams, i continue to bump my 90s classics or even older records before i was born.
It's not even about being a megastar, im just sick of every artist being a carbon copy of each other!

I think a lot of the times we say its the artists but a lot of the times, its the producers and writers too. A lot of the producers today mimic each other. Even some of the vets are switching up their style to fit in with the sound of music now. Tinashe, Justine, Normani, Chloe, etc., they dont have their Darkchild, Timbaland, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Jermaine Dupri, Jazze Phae / Lil Jon, Rich Harrison, Babyface, etc. to kinda helm their sound. So its not just the artists. The producers AND writers aint on the same level as the producers from the 90s and 2000s too. A lot of those artists from our time had a LOT of help.
A group of 5 is too many these days.
3 is perfect.

5 is def too much. 3 (MAYBE 4). They can come together, introduce the shit like a passion project, shop it around on TV networks (with compelling stories) and make it happen. I actually think it could work. Put out some real good music, announce a tour, perform their solo shit and group stuff and get shit popping. I prob wont go to a Teyana or Sevyn concert, but if they were a part of a 3 or 4 person group, sign me up and Im there.

Thank God Brandy had Darkchild, TLC had Dallas, Toni had Babyface, Aaliyah had Timbaland, etc. Who does Chloe, Normani and Justine have? Of course it was easy for Britney to get signed and just hop in a studio and have Max Martin create all her Oops and Baby One More Time hits and a star is born. Missy used to give ALL the new girls hits back in her day. Who's the go to R&B producer these days? Who's the writer that writes all the big hits? Shit, is there a Diane Warren who can give all the girls an R&B #1 song like she gave to the Trinity? All these girls are the fuck DOOMED.

they want these girls in whatever lane they think is going to BANK. its no longer about artistry. if the machine don't feel like its going to bank immediately, they aint putting any time or effort into it. long gone are the days that labels used to take RISKS on artists.
so theres two options for the new girls now. either get signed by a major label and do what they want you to do with all of their financial backing, or go independent and have artistic freedom but no budget.

justine's when youre ready is everything to me
chloe x halles mess is so refreshing to me, although i know some gors don't use
but i also feel like, not only is music more accessible now for consumers, the creation and publishing of it is more accessible for artists as well. and as a result of those two factors, we have VASTLY more options than we did back in the day. so its almost a question of where to look and who to focus on. but again, because this industry now seems so laser focused on profits over the art, theyre only pushing forward what they think will bank. and all that talent just gets left to go the independent route.

Yes and no. Don't artists have the option to say "no" when a producer tries to sell them a beat or a bridge? I mean once upon a time artists were in control. It seems like now a days it's all about getting with the producer who has a name regardless of what their giving. So I still blame the artists. Control your craft. Push who you're working with to innovate. And if you not feeling it or if they got you sounding like the same-same...say no. Or maybe I just don't understand how singers and producers work so IDK.

not unless you're at THAT level. very often, artists are told what producers they've been booked to work with and thats kinda that. particularly newer artists. i think thats true even back in the day with a lot of our favs, they were just able to cook up some MESS.
when it comes to the INDUSTRY, being the artists doesn't really allow one the control you would think it does. that's the reason why going independent, despite the obvious cons, is so appealing and the route that many artists (established and otherwise) are going

This shit is HARD. Honestly, Artists are asked to do a bit more than they should have to now. Everyone doesn't have the means to shoot their own short film or music video right outta the gate. It's a lot harder than it was for even someone like Issa Rae a decade ago
You should see the things Actors in LA are asked to do for a simple audition. It's sooooo gross. You basically have to shoot a fucking film all by yourself, pay for the location and amount of time you'll be there, pay for the extras that may appear in it (cuz it's required) AND of course pay for all of the equipment. And that's just to be considered
:omf:
Chile. The music industry is very similar
I depend on playlists to find new artists and most of the time they're depressing af. Literally and figuratively. All the songs sound the same, and all the artists do too. Like everything is one note. Either a breathy whispery voice or a monotone coo. You can't distinguish one artist from the next. And all the guys have the same nasal vocal. I wanna get into new music but it's hard.

Does she have a modelling agency or anything behind her?
I could see her killing in a campaign for a luxury brand.
Thats about all I can see
The fact that timbaland scooped Queen up during the Pandemic says a lot
doesn't seem like he's been this interested since Liy and Keri
https://youtu.be/lIvOatNfj7U
I mean, judging by those beats he gave sis he wasn't very interested

Get in yawl
Her last EP "Bare with Me" was her best project. I loved it, even the re-released version booked.
The first video i watch samples old Timbaland. That shit has become corny asf. Everybody has an tim/aaliyah sample. Not amused!!! Major problem within this industry.

!!! Easily her best mess for me. I like every single song.
Her second EP was really good. Especially The stuff she did with James Fauntleroy. I think she has the potential
