NYC offers $100 incentive to kids ages 5-11 who get COVID-19 vaccine
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – New York City is offering a $100 incentive to kids between 5 and 11 years old who get vaccinated at city-run sites.
City-run sites began administering Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to children on Thursday, days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed off on two-dose shots for kids.
At his daily briefing, Mayor Bill de Blasio said children will get $100 if they get their first dose at a city-run site.
"The day is here, we've been waiting for this day," de Blasio said. "What a watershed moment this is, a historic day this is, for our city that our youngest New Yorkers can now get vaccinated."
The city has already been offering $100 to teens and adults who get their first dose at a city-run site.
"We really want kids to take advantage, families to take advantage of that," de Blasio said. "Everyone could use a little more money around the holidays, but most importantly we want our kids and our families to be safe."
De Blasio said parents can make an appointment at city-run sites by calling 212-COVID19 or by visiting nyc.gov/vaccinefinder. The sites are also accepting walk-in appointments.
The mayor said kid vaccines would also be available at places like pediatricians offices and pharmacies.

im not feeling this too much cuz i feel that its kinda targeting lower income families who are more likely to JUMP at a chance to get 100 bucks and could easily justify this as being as "win-win" situation .... even if they did not plan to get their kid vaccinated.
and those families are more likely to be black or brown.
$100 could make a world of difference to a lot of people. and they know that
this is obviously an attempt to SWAY the undecided or those who haven't given the vaccination much thought for their kids...
not that getting the kids vaccinated is a bad thing...this approach just doesn't sit well with me.

Wtf is $100 gonna get you in NYC, one of the most expensive cities in the world?
They should at least offer the gorls $1000
This is kinda weird...
Not a hundred dollars
All I can think of is families who wonder where their next meal is gonna come from seeing this
that $100 could be groceries for a week or two for them
I'm sorry but it seems predatory . Clearly they're targeting the disadvantaged so why not just give them 100 bucks just because . Not only if they get a needle stuck in their child's arm

!!!!
Idk why but it seems a bit... sinister.
There's nothing predatory about this.
Low-income, marginalized and racialized communities are getting infected with COVID more.
So yeah, anyone who needs $100 probably SHOULD be getting themselves and their children vaccinated.

!!!!
Only place in the world where you're being PAID to take a potentially life saving vaccine
It's less about what's good and what should be done and more about questionable tactics and waving dollar bills in front of low income families
sorry but that it rubs me the wrong way.
Obviously the vaccine is a good thing - that's not something I'd debate . But I do question the way things are presented especially when it's clearly targeting a certain demographic of people .

These low income families are more likely to NOT get the vaccine
So if they get a hundred dollars to go towards their bills and get their kids to get the vaccine at the same time...
I honestly don't see the issue here.
Maybe if there was more data on how these vaccines have worked with children i wouldn't question it . With loads of time to truly measure its effectiveness, monitor side effects in younger populations etc ...
or even if it was $100 being thrown at adults when it's already been proven that the vaccine is safe and effective for certain age brackets
But something about this just doesn't sit right with me .
This vaccine for kids is brand spanking new and we don't know a shitload about it yet.
Some Parents who are desperate for cash will definitely forego that process of research and learning and grab the money . There's something wrong with that to me . Call me crazy
They had a vax lottery a few months ago. They were giving away hundreds of thousands of $$$$ to fully vaccinated people. It was weird af.
I think they should have waited to see how this vaccine really works with large populations of kids before throwing out cash offers to parents who may not in the position to refuse that $100 and will rush to get a needle stuck into their child's arm so they can have dinner that night .
That's all. I think that's reasonable. 🤷🏾
DDDSDDDDDDFDFDFSFDDDDDDDFDD
that outta get you faggots at least a mta monthly pass or sumn.

They do all that in clinical trials.
The vaccine for children is the same as the one for adults just in a lower dosage, so it's not new.
More children have been hospitalized with COVID and are developing long COVID symptoms due to the Delta variant. Those things are going to have more of an impact on their health long-term than any vaccine they would receive.
I'm not saying the vaccine is bad or questionable , I'm questioning the tactics .
waving money in front of disadvantaged people to make them do something will never sit right with me . Ever . Don't care if it's for a vaccine or asking them to turn a trick .
I don't like it . And I think that's the bottom line for me personally

Yes but you have to understand the reason as to WHY they are doing this.
It's either these struggling families suffer even more with medical bills and missed work because of Covid OR they get $100 and a potentially life saving vaccine.
They want to make this virus go away as soon as possible and if it means paying people who can't afford the time off work because they're sick or taking care of someone who is sick, or their already disadvantaged children missing important schooling, or just simply can't afford medical bills and costs...then I don't see the issue.
It's the lesser of two evils.

I've been following tea and I knew it was something they were developing for kids 5-11. Not basically giving them the same exact thing currently available to adults
