Title: I get the point but I can't agree wholeheartedly.....
Post by: Herb. on January 27, 2016, 12:52:56 AM
People are always quick to throw this mess out there -- "black on black crime!", etc. And while yes we do kill one another, we have to remember where it stems from. Drugs and gangs for the most part. Sales of drugs in our communities stems from a lack of income in the household, feeling the need to go out and sell mess just to keep up with what Josh's parents can buy him from their middle class salary....

Gangs which have become popular in our community because of the absence of black fathers in the household, the innate need for us to belong to something, and have that male authoritative figure, even if he's not the best example.....all leads to these senseless killings. It's not like we are just going outside and saying "woo! time to kill off my own fucking race! then set it back 20 years with my behavior :wellheythere: "

Most of these boys are brought up in neighborhoods where this life is normality, not an exception or a fantasy.  :uhh:

I just feel like Black people need to be held accountable for their actions. Yes alot of the issues are based on years of abuse and torment but when will enough be enough? I'm tired of hearing the product of environment argument. We all are given an opportunity to not fall into a life of crime. You either want your life to mean something or you don't.

The action of your past lay the foundation of your future.

Well environmental influences should never be underestimated. I agree that they shouldn't be fully blamed, but to disregard them and say "just do better", I think we can agree it's way easier said than done. Especially in a single parent household.
