I'm aware of who says it
but he's clearly talking about her when he says it and she allowed it to be on the song
so she must feel that way.
Kanye West is the best example of a person with a God complex.
And a person with a God complex would never admit to having one.

She just switched up the pronoun. It's a feminist approach to language used pertaining to God, whose gender is not defined.

People are dissecting these Bey lyrics too much. Had it been other artists, it wouldn't have been a big issue. As it relates to the God comment, don't we refer to our faves as Gods sometimes too by inserting God or Jesus in their names? DOes that mean they are God or that we pray to them each day? No! It's a way for us to simply express that our faves are the best of the best. Bey could simply be stating that as well, that she's the best woman that Jay has or will ever have. Furthermore, if you wanna get literal and biblical, the word god is not singular to God (Father in Heaven).

How was that unnecessary? That was talking about how Christianity (in the hands of men) has been used to oppress and shame women. It was beautiful poetry.
All this tells me is that y'all ain't deep LOL.
As people already said, it was a feminist approach. It's about praising and affirming feminine qualities over/or right beside the masculine qualities. Putting them on equal footing. One big message of the album is how Jay aka Hova has a God complex and needs to be brought back down to earth. Bey goes through different stages- she tries asserting herself over him, which isn't the answer, but she does need to realize her self-worth and ultimately it's both of them being human and vulnerable and humble that brings them back together again.
