monique is not laughing

this isnt a comedy jam

even meryl streep said that she was intrigued by how funny some scenes were in doubt

same difference

so stop attempting to try to bring blacks down with your hating black ass and
accept that this was brilliant body of work

funny sad  or whatever

i have always always  dragged meryl streeps acting.....me posting that scene from doubt and laughing definitely was not meant as praise for her acting...kjkj what kind of logic is that? that scene is as ridiculous as this scene IMO. so i have been very consistent with how i feel about different actors.

The academy disagrees with u
And the same would apply to viola in that same movie
Comedic moments within a serious tone

U were alluding to the fact that because a performance was comedic that it cant be good

We are focused on the fact that dramatic themes can be funny

We are focused on the fact u urself have noticed focused fact 1 ^

We are focused on the fact that u have very little to none critisism of white actors and strong critisism of black actors and shows and movies

And u not liking meryl does not change that

And u liking viola davis does not change that either

These are exeption cases for u not the rule so drop the act

Monique gave a great dramatic performance

That had dark humerous undertones

And she is an oscar winner because of it

U have a history of hating blacks and their culture and that is that

and let me add

When it was taraji vs viola i gave a bit of kudos to taraji for being more well rounded comedic timing, hood black girl, professional

Viola is amazing but there are alot of roles she couldnt do

And meryl is very well rounded in that respect

Taraji also looks a lot younger, so obviously she'd be offered roles like "Baby boy". Fuck does Viola look like running around Compton with Jody?

I'm pretty sure Viola can do many things but this is Hollywood we're talking about. Once they love you a certain way, they pretty much decide what ur niche is and keep you there.

well that i agree with

viola is not as versatile...she cant do comedy or quirky roles..but being belieavble to me is much more important....plus i rarely watch comedies or fantasy type movies lol

but just in terms of how believable they are on screen TO ME, viola>>>>>>> by far...

meryl is cartoonish to me...always has been..it always looks like she's gong to break out in laughter even in scenes that don't call for that type of acting  :uhh:

just my opinionata tho  :overit:

And what comedic/quirky role has Viola been offered? I wouldn't say she can't until we see her fail at pulling it off

She shows a few different sides on How to get away with murder. I was shocked when she got a bit seductive :dead: and the movie with J.Lo when they partied together and went out to MESS before the killing spree

Well we know u cant see the point in taraji bein more versatile
Cause u thesbians dont belive the realism she brings and many character shes portrayed ..counts but it does

But viola Yeah she couldnt be in compton with jody
Or in hairshow with monique
Or along side idris ina domestic suspense thriller

And thats more of a testament to violas range than tarajis

To me she  hasnt been type casted but i guess

Sis is a self admitted failed pilot queen
So clearly her mess doesnt translate as easy as we think
The viola shes gotten is these white dramas thats a bit light hearted

Even in her movies everytime there is lighthearted moment ses awkward lol

Taraji also looks a lot younger, so obviously she'd be offered roles like "Baby boy". Fuck does Viola look like running around Compton with Jody?

I'm pretty sure Viola can do many things but this is Hollywood we're talking about. Once they love you a certain way, they pretty much decide what ur niche is and keep you there.

Taraji has been damn good in many things, but this cookie shit is what's awful, and no one can convince me otherwise. It's not even all her fault

Viola's voice and demeanor was the same for Suicide Squad, HTGAWM, and that movie with JLo. She's a Queen tho and probably would shine brighter if the business wasn't so racist.

Meryl overacts at times as well, IMO. but she's had a lot of chances to show off her different chops. they don't get the same opportunities

Although, yes, Meryl is amazing when she gets it right. She has duds like everyone else though
and what are they? :dead:

Meryl has no fuck ups tbh. For as acting wise. 10/10.

Speaking of... Lemme watch Doubt. and Honestly she's the closest to a perfect actress there has ever been and makes 9/10 great decisions when picking films.

A person could literally watch almost every movie she's been in and be satisfied to some degree.

Viola, Meryl, Taraji, Monique are all great and talented actresses. Some have been given the opportunity to shine more than others.

As for Viola, I think it's very hard for women with distinctive, deep voices to come across genuine in subservient type of roles. I think it's sometimes hard for the voice to show the range of inflections that a lighter voice shows. I sometimes find that issue with women like Viola, Angela Bassett,...even Brandy. It's not that they are bad actresses, it's just that their speaking voices don't inflect and adjust as easily as lighter/softer voices.

And Viola may not have that Oscar, but she has 2 Tony awards.

!!! viola is very good at being vulnerable and making you feel bad for her (the help/ some moments in htgawm)....she's also good at the bitch or dominant type roles (htgawm)...and she's good at being crazy (htgawm)...or being dykish/ manly (htgawm)

thats kinda all she needs for most roles

and as rig said: we have not seen her play a quirky role like a witch in a fantasy movie,etc... honestly , no black woman has had the chance to do that type of role yet
